Who was running the UK Motown office at EMI at the time?
Phil Spector?, Mickey Most?, Shel Tammey? Brian "one ear" Wilson, Johnny "one ear" Ray ? Who?
(the facts of the matter are that Spector, Most, Tammey, and Wilson did not have the skill or know-how to mix for stereo, use a wide 180 degree soundstage, place vocals and instruments in the frame or have the tools to mix down and bounce tracks in stereo. So they kept everything 100% mono, a skill too to put everything in 1 ch, and adjust each EQ to fit and not counter out or overtake the previous mono track.

If we have had constant mono of a track since day one, and there comes an opportunity to actually put the track out in a natural and superior stereo sound, then what's the issue, what's the prob?, you are giving the public something new, something different rather than the same old same old.. Mono a blast from the producer ignorant past !
Absolutely 100% avoid this needless and pointless MONO UK undinked-sold centre pressing!

1. Picture sleeve
2. Stereo ABC like I want You Back was made for stereo was mixed for stereo explodes on your ears in stereo.
3. Has a dinked 4p optional centre

Enough said melt the above it's pointless.
