Tribulations of a Chinaman in China French: Les Tribulations d'un Chinois en Chine is an adventure novel by Jules Verne, first published in 1879. The story is about a rich Chinese man, Kin-Fo, who is bored with life, and after some business misfortune decides to die. The book is a traditional adventure, similar in style to Around the World in Eighty Days, which is one of the author's more well-known books. However, it does contain more humour as well as criticism of topics such as the British opium. Bearing in mind that Voyages Extraordinaires had a didactic mission, Verne does a reasonable job of covering the Chinese political issues of his day as they were understood abroad: poverty and mass emigration, the negative effects of imperialism, especially relating to opium and political unrest within China. chino en China es محن صيني في الصين ar Kiinalaisen koettelemukset fi Tribulations of a Chinaman in China en La Afliktado de Ĉino en Ĉinio eo Číňanovy trampoty v Číně cs دیوار چین fa novela de Julio Verne es roman de Jules Verne fr ספר מאת. ז'ול ורן he boek van Jules Verne nl Roman von Jules Verne de romanzo scritto da Jules Verne it novel by Jules Verne en romano de Julio Verne eo 儒勒,凡尔纳的一部小说 zh رواية من تأليف جول فيرن ar Las tribulaciones.
